Not in the state of Louisiana .
When Kershaw first came out with Ken Onion's designs with assisted opening "Speed-Safe" mechanisims , I talked to several friends in Law Inforcement and to the District Attorney in West Baton Rouge Parish . I wanted / needed a assisted opening , one hand open and one hand close knife but didn't want to get in trouble .
Since the knife is opened with your finger and contains no opening button ... you don't open by pressing a button ... you actually open the knife with your finger-tip then it's not cosidered a prohibited "Switch Blade" . After I found this out I started buying every model Kershaw came out with 3 or 4 Ken Onion designs (Chive . Leek , Scallion , Shallot ) and every model that caught my interest ... I like one hand open-close ...my other hand is usually gripping something , I have 3 Leeks in different handle s and blade colors ...the last purchased were Kershaw 1670 Blur , Kershaw 1555Ti Cryo and Kershaw 1935 Fatback bought all in local Cabela's , hanging on rack ...so they must be legal in Louisiana!

All the opening involves pushing the blade instead of a button on the handle.

In most jurisdictions it is not a switchblade.
