I like to do a few mods to this pistol. I don't seem to be having any luck on finding out who makes aftermarket parts and/or if M&P has them for this model. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
Sir,Do you own this gun already?
I bought one last December, only made it through about 150 rds, was a major disappointment.
Mine the trigger was awful, gritty staged multiple places was around 6.5 lb, my shield plus has a far superior trigger and it cost twice as less along with other let downs.
It did nothing that the poly version can't do, but cost an extra 400 bucks.
The competitor is NOT a thousand dollar gun, just isn't. A CZ Shadow 2 cost darn near the same and will run circles around the competitor.
This is one of those little talked about items outside the industry.S&W's biggest issue with their triggers right from the factory for the last 5yrs or so is the drop safety plunger. The outside diameters are not smooth but the issue with the geittyness is the chamfer inside the plunger. That sharp edge rides against the plunger return spring that makes it sound like a zipper.
Interestingly I've heard of this before and had it previously checked, during Safety Inspection, at a Sanctioned Match. It passed then, this was several years ago, but they never fully explained why they were checking.Take your Gen1 pistols that have an Apex USB in them and test them for drop safe. Meaning remove the slide and flip it upside down and try to push the striker past the USB. Does your still work.
There's a stippled pad on older models that now is just a cut-out. I'd like that pad and/or Items like a gas peddle or more stippled/aggressive points of contact. What mods do you want?
And... I don't know what's out there to put on the want list. Asking for help with my ignorance. Thx.What mods do you want?
A have a CZ shadow 2 with the bushing. It is a far superior gun. It cost ~2.5X more than the M&P, I got the M&P cuz I liked the way it looked. I knew the trigger was a heavy sponge before I got it. Hence, I'm here. PS, I'm not a huge fan of this company. But I thought they did a nice job here.Do you own this gun already?

That said, Apex tactical just released some trigger parts for the metal guns. According to Randy Lee, owner of Apex, the poly and metal guns are not compatible parts wise across the board.
Dude! You're frek'n Awesome! I'd love to spend a few afternoons with you in your shop! Totally kool! Oh, and this from a 65y/o. But I'd rather a 3 - 2.5# trigger. Not a duty or carry weight.Sir,
I own multiple Gen1 M&Ps along with M2.0 and do on the side gunsmithing work. I have probably done 30-50 triggers on various M&P models. I have not worked on the metal frame guns yet. But I have seen them and it's an M2.0 trigger design in general,
S&W's biggest issue with their triggers right from the factory for the last 5yrs or so is the drop safety plunger. The outside diameters are not smooth but the issue with the geittyness is the chamfer inside the plunger. That sharp edge rides against the plunger return spring that makes it sound like a zipper. That is the grittiness you feel. I can take a stock M2.0 pistol and by swapping out only one of my modified plungers and make a clean breaking 4.5-5# trigger all day long. You don't have to buy any after market parts or kits IMO.
The current M2.0 triggers design is a great trigger in OEM setup if they would spend a little more time to deburr that plunger.

Yeah, life takes ya on a few paths. But hey, fun hijack of the post!Seems like the OP has not been back here since he started this thread.
So we are just talking amongst ourselves...
JMO,

Perhaps the complaints above are quality control issues and I’m just lucky, or maybe I lack discernment. My Performance Center Shield Plus and M&P 2.0 3.6” compact triggers are much the same. They are far better than I expected. My M&P 2.0 Competitor has a better trigger with a reduced trigger pull. I don’t have much time spent with shooting these guns, so I appreciate the discussion above and will be on the lookout for undetected issue, but for now I don’t intend upon modifying the guns. My, almost newest purchase is the CZ Shadow 2 Compact and it has a wonderful trigger, but being a double/single action hammer fired gun, comparisons with the M&Ps are comparing very different trigger actions. One thing that is easy to compare is reset and the CZ is much better in this respect.
