got a 340PD w/CT and like it lot...
recently handled a M&P 340... slightly heavier but equipped much better sights. I'm a titanium junkie, so I like my 340PD better.
would like to upgrade my 340PD's sights to match M&P 340.
does anyone know what brand is used?

CY the front sight used on the M&P 340 is an xpress big dot tritium sight,a google search will turn up their website.

CY, thanks for stopping by. Yes, the XS Big Dots are the berries. I would have a PD were it not for the 340/360M&P.
PAA- Thanks for your reviews. It will not be good news, but there is no retention to speak of in a Mika, at least in my round cut. The good news, you could easily add a strap without much effort.

337 pd Airlite. About as light as they come in a snub revolver. It is rated for 38 plus P right? But not .357 IIRC.
These lightweight genres have a mystique all their own. I think everyone sooner or later wonders what it is like to shoot something in the 11-13 oz range with a 2 inch barrel.
For some reason though I just can't get excited about the new Ruger version.
Shooters in Jacksonville, FL has had the best price for a couple of years. They run out, and then get a load in when they can so be patient.

I am the MSAA (Master Sargeant at Arms) over at the 642 Club.
That's a pretty high honor. Once in a great while we have some rowdy characters there. Not nearly as civil or sophisticated as this crew.

Picked it up Tuesday.....haven't put it down since! This thing is sweet! Hell my wife even commented "nice", with a grin. This comes hard to her since she is the CFO of the household (literally).
We got our CCW permits together but she's still unarmed (and yes I've offered up my 340). She just finds it hard to peel off the "Benja-mans". She has been kicking around between the J-Frame's, the LCR and the Micro-Eagle. Just hasn't "pulled the trigger", so to speak. Her decision completely.....I'm stayin' out of it.
I need to go back an re-visit some of the holster reviews in the forum. I have the DeSantis but the butt of my grip pertrudes on many of my pants pockets. Not to the point of hanging out but I can look down at the pocket opening and see the serial number and lanyard loop. Guess I need a new holster or deeper pockets!
Well 'nuff said.....guess it's time for a picture? I really appreciate all of the great info and experience I've found here at the 340 club. You guys really helped me make what I feel is my best purchase in recent memory.

Club thread owners often fall into such roles, and those of us that frequent the clubs help out.

Speaking of .38 spl I found a couple of boxes of 130 gr UMC Green Box at Bass Pro the other day. 100 rounds to the larder. Reminded me of the "good old days". Maybe some day WalMart will have some too.

That's a good looking combo with the grips and Galco. Does the Galco have a clip or does it have slots for a belt. Could you run full speed wearing it? Would the holster stay on and the revolver stay in the holster. Just a couple of my personal criteria.
Have you considered the Bianchi Speedstrip(s) as an option to carrying the HKS?

My 340PD. I've had it about 2 years now. I have Laser Max laser grips on it but
if I had it to do again, I'd go with CT's. Reason? Gloves.
The ON/OFF switch on the Laser Max is dang near impossible to operate with
heavy leather motorcycle gloves and I ride 365. Also, the laser stays on
making instant on/off real hard. I have CT's on the other 3 guns I have
lasers on, a P239, S&W m38 Airweight and my Glock 33 and like them better.

DAdams the holster has a single belt loop on the back of it,its very stable with the 340 in it. The holster has a snug fit to it. I've jogged with it and the gun was held firmly in place.
I'm very pleased with this holster for the $63 shipped it costs me. Its very similar to the old barnes martin design but with out the elastic retention. The grips are Altamont silver black checkered boot grips. They are very nice for pocket carry as well. I've been meaning to get some speed strips for it as well.

That makes the 340 $653 approximately, in that Optics Planet gets $248 for the 405 grips. Of course you have to throw some transfer money in there.
Not to mention the grips that come on the 340 from the factory have the S&W Logo.

Have any M&P 340 owners tried the .357 135gr gold dots for short barrels in their M&P 340? If so were there any crimp jump issues with this round? I ask as I've tried 125gr Remington golden sabers and had some pretty bad crimp jump issues with this load. Is it true that limp wristing a M&P 340 will cause this,remember reading this some place but can't recall where I read it.
I was under the impression that the steel cylinder on the M&P 340 solved the crimp jump issue,is this the case? I ask as I've not read of anyone having crimp jump issues with the golden sabers but I did so is this something I'm doing wrong in holding the the gun incorrectly? Or should I just try another box of the golden sabers and see what happens?

I shot the GDSB 135-gr. .357 Magnum rounds in my M&P 340, megatronrules--and in a 640, and a 3" Model 60. Approx. 30 rounds total.
No crimp jump issues with any of them.
As for the cause of crimp jump--it's the crimp, period, AFAIK. I'd suggest you e-mail / call Remington and ask them of any issues with the 125-gr. Golden Sabers.

S&W Service Experience--M&P 340
Some time ago, I set aside my M&P 340 to send in for service. During the last-time-I-shot-it cleaning, I noticed what I thought was a stretched cylinder. Since I had been shooting reloads--but no "high test" 357 rounds in it, I assumed that it would be repaired as needed at my expense--and my budget was tight.
Besides, this was a good excuse to carry the Airweight 360 I had purchased--i.e., that DA/SA scandium-357-frame, 38 Special I picked up last fall; I think it was a product release of a cancelled (European) PD contract. So, for several months I carried and practiced with that gun.
In August, I sorted out the potential money issues, and called S&W for a FedEx pickup. It took about two weeks for them to mail the RA and FedEx label. AFAICT, that's because of the reduced workforce due to vacations and downtime in August, and the workload backs up. So, I packed up the 340, c/w a cover letter explaining what I thought the issue was and noting that I had shot reloads in it. (It also went in with a Model 63 that required a minor blemish repair--but that's not really relevant.)
The M&P left here on Thursday, Sep. 3--i.e., just before the Labor Day / long weekend. The FedEx shipping was two-day--and I was concerned about receipt at S&W on Saturday, or maybe being held until Tuesday. I meant to call on Wednesday (allowing a day for receipt processing), but forgot; forgot again on Thursday--and on Friday Sept. 11 , I received a postal letter acknowledging receipt.
I've been awaiting a letter detailing the repair cost (I expected a charge for cylinder replacement, perhaps $125.00). Today, Sep. 16, Fedex returned the 340. It left S&W on Monday, the 14th. A new cylinder was installed, and the cylinder is well-fit: minimal, barely-detectable endshake. The barrel-cylinder gap is at 0.005
(With it was the M63, its muzzle re-crowned to remove the EDM(?) chatter I had not noticed when I purchased it. Both guns were wrapped in the S&W gun-wrap, with accompanying form letters describing the service performed. Packed in the original Doskosil small 2-gun case I used to send them.
By my estimation--allowing a day at each end for receipt / shipping processing, the service time was three days.
I'm impressed, and thoroughly satisfied.
I now need to send in the 360--it needs a rough cylinder polished--and I may send in the 640 as well, just for a general checkup; it has about 18,000-20,000 rounds through it now.

I have run maybe 10 rounds of SGDSB (23917) through my 340, primarily to wring it out on crimp jump. I had no issues nor evidence of movement. I used the felt tip pen method and checked rounds 3-5, no seperation.
Not much a torture test but then I just wanted to make sure. I'm still on the 38 spl plus P regimine.

Thanks for recounting a positive S&W customer service/warranty for life story. I think that is why I would be hard pressed to buy anything other than S&W from here on out.
I'm kind of jonsing for a M&P .45 midsize (semiauto) with CT grips.
