I love my M&P 9C but honestly I sometimes get a little tired of its girth. Its a great shooter but I'm getting curious about another weapon. I had looked at the CZs before getting my M&P. Can anyone tell me how the CZ PCR compares to the M&P Compact in size? Mostly height and width? If you had pics that would be awesome.

PCR is an awesome pistol, holsters are available, the Bianchi M-100 for Glock 19 is a good fit, (I have one somewhere), and Eric, (PCRCCW on THR), makes some very nice CZ holsters. It is a little smaller and slimmer than the 19, and a whole lot more comfortable, in my opinion
The specs on both can be found at cz-usa.com and smith-wesson.com. The PCR is actually a longer and wider gun than the M&P, so if your concern is about concealment or grip size, the PCR might not be a better option. Having said that, I have a PCR as well as a full size M&P. The PCR is the best "feeling" gun I've ever held, though I'm admittedly a novice. The balance in also good in my opinion. Ditto the above about holsters.

I was able to find a Galco c250 that works well for IWB CCW for the PCR. I love my CZ and you can get the Kadet kit and have a nice .22 to plink with. It is like having two guns for the price of one and a half. Love my PCR and if you do get one...word of warning...I hear the tend to lead to more CZ's.
Like most manufacturers there website lists the width of the weapon at the WIDEST point NOT the slide. This measurement doesn't tell you anything about how the weapon will carry. Is the PCR really 1.4 inches across the width of the frame? Or is that across the safeties. THe length also lists the LONGEST parts of the gun. The PCR has a tang that doesn't impact the way the gun is carried nearly as much as the extra 1/2 inch of slide on the rear of the weapon to cover the striker mechanism. What I'm asking about is more subjective. Obviously I could just look up the numbers myself.

Subjectively, I have carried the G19 concealed, and both PCR and P01 concealed. With a good holster and belt, there is very little differance, perception is everything.
I do kinda prefer CZ...

There are two things on this thread that I totally agree with.
The PCR fits my hand as well as any weapon I have ever held.
Holsters are a pain in the ass to find. I bought one used from a fellow poster here or at TFL. (can't remember)
I did not want to wait six months to a year to get a holster made, so it took me two years to find one used that I liked. I know,I know.

I believe the PCR has snag free features(i.e. de cocker and slide release). Even if it is bigger, i found the M&P to handle like a Glock IMO. It doesnt point naturally well for me. The CZ grips are funny. My Witness(based of the CZ) is a 10mm and holds 15rds, yet i can wrap my paws around it easier than my buddies G22. Its comparable to my Beretta 92F.

jon, the CZ grip fits me like a glove. I've never wrapped a paw around the M&P compact, though the full size didn't fit me very well. The Glock feels like an ugly brick.
CZ always works very well for me, and my wife...you might think we are somewhat sold on the brand...

The website for CZ and M&P lists the PCR at 5.3 inches high and the M&P at 4.3. That is a sizeable difference when carrying under a t-shirt. I just wish Smith would make a 9mm carry version that wasn't unnecessarily wide to accommodate the .40/.357 in the same platform.

I carry my PO1 in an HBE COMIII IWB rig under a large t-shirt with no issues. Best of luck finding the perfect setup!

ok guys, love my PCR, having a slight issue. Having jams as the gun fires and the slide is returning and feeding a round into the chamber. Recoil spring? worn out mag springs? It happens mostly when my friends shoot, but I also kungfoo grip it. Even then, it sometimes happens for me. Any suggestions?

New recoil spring, check to see if your feed ramp is buggered, and what type of ammo? Some out of spec handloads will do that.
Today I took my M&P 9C to the range and shot about 50 rounds. I was quickly reminded why I put up with the bulk of the little bugger. It is dead on. At 35 yard I was chasing a piece of plastic garbage some knucklehead left behind. I didn't hit it every time but it was about half the size of a dollar bill and I hit it plenty of times. The M&Ps are really nice shooters. I guess I'll have to save up for a CZ and try some head to head shooting to decide which one it will be. I can't see trading in a weapon that shoots as good as this one. The only issue I have with it is that every couple of mags the slide will lock back with one round still in the mag. Worse case scenario I drop a mag with one round still in it. I can live with that for now.

When I was pistol-testing before buying, the Smith M&P 9 compact was the only 3-inch pistol I could shoot as well as the bigger 4-inch+ guns. The little Smith is very nice. I also really like shooting the CZ 75 and am looking forward to trying out the PCR.

The P01 was larger than the M&P Compact, especially in the butt.
I like the standard mag without finger plate for carry.
A M&P 9C would probably be lighter than a PCR but not by much.
Both are good guns, but go with the CZ if you want something special for yourself. You can always buy a M&P down the road.

Yeah, that suggestion has already been posted. Once again I'll explain that the manufacturers list the WIDEST point of the weapon when posting width. This is normally the slide lock or safety and NOT the slide width. Glock lists their pistols at 1.4 inches. Is the slide really 1.4 inches wide? Overall width really means nothing. The width of the slide or frame is what really makes an impact on the hip.
Lastly, I'm trying not to be offended by the idea that I wouldn't have thought to do to the manufacturers website to look it up before asking. I'm a little more internet savvy than that.
