Well, my dealer got one in today and I was there 10 minutes later taking it off of his hands. It sure feels sweet. :D :D There is no magazine disconnect like the full size M&P and I noticed that the trigger feels smoother than the full size M&P as well. I did not feel the same slight crunch in the trigger that my full size M&P has. Range report will be posted sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening. :D

Good stuff. What's the size like? Looks comparable to a Glock 26 in photos.

The size is perfect for me. The magazines have just the right amount of curve for my finger to fit in. As for the Glock 26, I am not sure, but I did own a Glock 36 (.45ACP) and I would have to say the M&P compact is about the same size. Magazine capacity is 12, which is fine for me. I can't stand jamming 15+ rounds of ammo into a magazine.

Hold on, I will check........yes, one short and one long. However, they are both 12-round mags. I will be ordering one of the long mags as soon as they are available. Does anyone want pics? If so, I can put my fullsize next to my compact so everyone can get an idea of the difference. Nevermind, I will just do it!

Here is a picture of the fullsize and compact side by side.

sweet, congrats brother, thanks for letting us know and, please give us all the range report we can handle. i have been interested in the M&P, the compact in particuar. congrats again, and happy shooting.

I like the looks of the M&P compact Treebeard! Congrats on the new pistol!

After having owned the Steyr M-A1 and S&W M&P for awhile now, has a favorite emerged for you? I know when I handled the M&P, it reminded me of the Steyr a bit as far as grip and low bore axis.

To be honest with you I enjoy shooting both of them.:D It will be interesting to see how the Steyr compares to the compact M&P. I would give the edge to the M&P only because I have noticed slightly less muzzle flip with the M&P. I suppose it will probably take 3 months for someone to come out with a properly fitting leather IWB holster for the compact M&P!!

Distra, it does not fit, but it almost fits the Fobus paddle holster for the XD9. It is tight and it "clicks" into place, but it is a pain the arse to get it out.

I will not be able to get to the range today!  I have some contractor construction issues that need to be resolved today. Sorry folks.:( However, I will be able to go tomorrow come rain or shine. I will post pics too.

still haven't seen one up this way. Have actually only seen three or four pictures of them.
While not a model that scream to me to buy it, I would like to handle one sometime. It's got something differnt about it but not sure what it is. I;'ve already got a Hk P2000sk so I don't need another of this size but if enough reports are favorable I may keep my eyes open for a good deal on one later next year.
Strange since I've never given a Smith a second glance before.

Today was a beautiful day in NH. It was warm enough to wear jeans an a t-shirt while at the range. By the way, wouldn't you know I forgot my camera once again.  Anyways, I took 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle, 50 rounds of Winclean, and 50 rounds of Remington UMC ammo. The M&P compact 9mm was a blast to shoot. Like I said earlier, the trigger does not have the same "crunch" that the full size M&P 9mm has, the trigger is smoother IMHO. Being a compact semi-auto, there is more recoil/muzzle flip than the full size, but it is in no way unmanageable. It did not bother me at all while shooting. For me, I almost always shoot either low to the left or middle low, and today was no exception. However, if I concentrate I can SOMETIMES shoot where I aim. The M&P compact is a keeper for sure. I had no FTF's or FTE's and almost every single spent casing landed in the same place on the floor. However, I was once again disappointed with Federal American Eagle ammo, so I will not be shooting it ever again! :cuss: Pics are below.:D :D

This usually means you're anticipating the recoil a bit too much. See the chart below:

Good to hear you're happy with your new aquisition. :)

I bought a S&W M&P C9 for Buy A Gun Day.

I put 200 rounds of WWB 115 gr round nose and 50 rounds of WWB Personal Defense 115 gr Hollow Points through it without a problem.

The S&W website doesn't even have an introduction on the 9C yet.

Compared to my Kahr 9094, it is heavier, thicker, shorter in height and longer in slide and has a much better trigger and a capacity of 13 rounds compared to 8. I put on the smallest grip adapter and was reasonable comfortable. I'll try the others.

It was on sale, despite being a new gun, for $449.99 at Shooters in Jacksonville FL. The same price as the full size S&W M&P 9 or 40.

Sale ended on 11/11/06.

Who needs more practice. :D

I like the full sized M&P, but was hoping that the compact would truely be a compact, and not a subcompact like the G26. I wish that they would have made it more along the lines of the G19 as far as size goes.

With that said, the M&P is a great feeling gun in my hand. I'm sure that I'm going to end up with one of the full sized models at some point just because of the way that they fit me.
