Personally I'd like to see a M&P 9mm in a slightly smaller size, but not as small as the M&P Compact. I love the way the M&P feels but its either too large or too small (I have smaller hands).

I think a G19-sized M&P might just be an ideal pistol for me (that and cheaper M&P mags). Anyone else think they'd like to see one?

I'm fine with the way things are now with the M&P line-up. So many are tied up in the Glock sizes, probably because the Glock's came out first.

The standard M&P9 is smaller than the G17, but bigger than the G19. A nice compromise in my book. The M&P9 Compact is smaller than the G19, but bigger than the G26. I you want smaller than the G26 you could get the Shield.

On the other hand, I've been a part of Glock size discussion where I was basically called an idiot for wondering why Glock doesn't make a "Compact" in .45Auto. The G21 is a "Standard" while the G30 is a "Subcompact". Where's the "Compact" .45Auto in the Glock line-up? S&W has room enough in their line-up for three sizes of .45Auto, full size, mid size, and compact.

I don't see the point personally. Like someone already mentioned, use a magazine extension. I personally like the M&Pc size just a hair taller than the G26 and a hair shorter than the 19. Actually the Shield is taller than the compact and holds less rounds go figure that one out.

^There ya go!

I'm pretty sure the sizing was intentional to place the M&P9 between the G17 and G19, while the M&P9c is between the G19 and the G26.

I really like the G19 (it's the last Glock I still have), but the FS M&P9 fills the same role as an all around gun...I find the G17 an odd size

The G34 and the M&P9 Pro do compete head-to-head in size and intended use.

My M&P9c came with 3 interchangeable grip strap sizes. The right size and the extended mag option makes it pretty flexible for fit.

I'm disappointed S&W stopped making the 3913 and 908....they should bring those back. I'm tired of everyone trying to make a Glock....

I don't see the need either.

I've owned a G19, G23, M&P9, and M&P40. The full size M&P's feel very nice. The Glock 19 and 23 are a tad smaller, but still too big for some.

The M&P compact and Shield are perfect if you want a slim and lightweight ccw, that is not a Glock.

S&W has the SD9s, which are about Glock 19 sized, though not part of the M&P line. They lack the adjustable backstraps of the M&Ps, but I believe Apex does make a kit for them.
