M&P Home Trigger Jobs

A THR member sent me the Pdf. link to Dan Burwells website detailing trigger work on an M&P. I'm about ready to do this.

Has anyone else done this at home? How did it turn out?

Just finished the "home" trigger job and it does make a dramatic improvement. I personally feel my trigger pull is still a little to stiff, so rummaging through my goody box I spied a standard 5# Glock striker spring. The Glock spring is significantly lighter than the stock M&P, and guess what else? Yep, it fits perfectly.

This also dropped the pull weight,then I seated several new primers in an empty case to see if they would ignite. They did and the primer striker is very good.

I must caution I have not function tested yet, therefore I am not recommending this.

I wouldn't recommend going with a lighter striker spring if reliable firing is a priority.

I tested the trigger pull on mine. It was a very clean and respectable 6.2 lbs.

That's almost exactly what mine measured (6 lb, 1oz on mine) on my Berkley digital scale before the Glock spring. Haven't check it with the G spring.

Man, I'm surprised that you guys are talking about doing a trigger job on an M&P - my M&P has the sweetest DA trigger in my collection - just a touch heavier than an SA trigger (and in fact lighter than my Colt Commander).

I'm not offended or anything - the search for perfection is generally a good thing - just that I wouldn't let a top drawer gunsmith touch my M&P.

I wouldn't want to lower the trigger weight, rcellis, but smoothing it is another story. M&P triggers have a tendancy to be a little scratchy on takeup, mostly when the striker blocker gets engaged. You can round off this profile and get rid of that "catch." I will probably eventually do that to my M&P's but it isn't a bid enough deal to me to make me want to hurry up and do it.

Tha biggest thing this trigger job does is lessen the "hitch" right before the break. If you have an issue with the muzzle pulling as you fire, doing the trigger job can help.
