2 M1 Carbines from the CMP, one NPM and one Inland. Both having issues. Both were stripped/greased/reassembled upon delivery and haven't shot more than 200-300 rounds each since. I didn't disassemble the bolts. Magazines are 15 round GI mags. Ammo is Aguila.

The Inland often stovepipes a LIVE round on the last round in the mag. In other words, the last round doesn't feed but gets jammed pointing upward between the bolt and the receiver.

The NPM fails to feed near the end of the magazine, and often closes the bolt on an empty chamber.

I'm guessing new mag spring at a minimum to start with... any other ideas? I haven't really worked on carbines before other than to strip/clean/grease them.

My vote is for a magazine issue on both rifles. Can you find some more 15 rounders? My AO works fine with the 15 rounders but is balky with the Korean 30 rounders I have.

^^^^ Good advice.

I haven't shot any Aguila in awhile, but from what I remember the QC wasn't the greatest. Meaning an occasional undercharged or overcharged round which leads to malfunctions.

Here are a couple of things to check:

1- An original carbine has a polished feed ramp. If the gun has been re-parkerized the feed ramp is usually kind of rough. It should be shinny.

2- Be sure the mag springs are in the right way around. The long side of the spring goes towards the rear of the mag body. There is more lift on the rear of the follower. This is opposite most mags I have taken apart.

3- I have had very good results with Wolf springs in good GI mags. KCI (Korean) mags are also good IME.

4- I only use 15rd mags. They are usually more reliable than other sizes.
