Are the Korean mags any good.

When I say good I mean do they feed and function 100%.
I found some new at CDNN 15 round for $9.

I really need to buy a 3 or 4 dozen mags and I'm hunting a good deal on some quality ones.

Any suggestions will be taken.

Thanks

I've had good luck with the Korean 30 round mags. No problems at all. I haven't tried the 15 round mags.

They are supposed to be USGI spec. The Koreans had a lot of M1 carbines and produced their own mags for them.

I have a few 30's and one 15rnd. Korean and all work just as well as USGI. All have been 100% so far, particularly for 30's (because USGI is so darn expensive) I would highly recommend the Korean mags.

:)

They have the 30 rounders too so I may try some of those.

Not sure if thats a cheap price though.

I've been running the korean 30s with the "UU" markings on the back of them for about two years now, 100% on all 4 I own. I can't speak to the 15s, the only 15 I have is a usgi.

I haven't tried the 15rd Koreans but the 30rd Koreans have worked 100% for me in 2 carbines. Yes that's a good price.

NOTE: IF you choose to order the 30rd Korean carbine mags from CDNN you may want to call them rather than order online. I ordered one and they sent me a 30 rd Korean AR-15 mag instead, even though the invoice was correct and had handwritten check marks by it. They both come in brown paper wrappings. Just double check or add a note with your order to help make sure they pull yours from the right bin. I've ordered from CDNN a couple of times since and have had great service.

Good mags, IMO.

Did it fit. :p That is one heck of a mistake, even considering the brown wrapper they come in. I haven't used one, but I bet the Korean AR mags are good too. They are steel, right?

:)

They are all I use. I don't even have experience with GI magazines. I got three mags when I got my carbine, still in the wrappers. Korean mags. I bought two more at my local gunshop, for $10 each. Out of the roughly thousand rounds I have through them, I have yet to have a failure.

BTW are they steel?
Yes sir, just about identical to USGI, which is undoubtedly why they perform so well. FWIW, I was asking about the Korean AR mags when asking about whether they are steel...I believe they are as well (but haven't used any).

:)

Yep... quality stuff. Made me want to order some more Korean AR-15 mags, actually. :D

I can see how it would be easy to make the mistake... brown wrapper that both say say Korean 30-rd magazine on it... about the same size. No harm done, other than a couple of bucks price difference.

I know sure as heck after I buy a bix then quality mags will appear for $1 each.

Thats just my luck.

Have over a dozen of the Korean/KCI magazines I bought and they all work perfectly for me. The outer coat aren't of the best quality as I noticed they scuff rather easily, but I don't care.

I'm not too hard on mine, so I haven't noticed, but I believe they are painted rather than blued or parkerized, that certainly appears to be the case.

South Korea received a lot of M1 Carbines as a US ally in the 1950s and with North Korea and Red China north of them and threatening, I would expect their native-made M1 Carbine magazines to be bet your life quality. Now, I have not tried the recent production magazines. But, I bought a M1 carbine re-imported from South Korea and have three 30-round magazines, one of Korean manfacture. I use all three magazines in military matches interchangably since I have detected no difference in performance.

I have dozens of GI 15s & 30s, and the new Koreans work just as well. The only real difference is that the GI mags are blued & the ROKs are painted/whatever, hence the comments about scuffing/scratching. I use them instead of my nicer GI mags as they are becoming collectors' items  Oy!

I bought a couple of the steel AR mags to check them out & they function fine & are well made, just heavier ( :D ). Also, CDNN runs deals almost every weekend with reduced shipping or $5 or $6 - that makes it worth buying a couple instead of 6 or 8 to amortize the shipping. Sign up for the email notices & they will let you know when they do the specials.

from what I gather they shipped the tooling to korea so everything they made was made from the tooling that we had.
