Ok for all of you C&R Junkies out there am I correct in assuming that a 50 year old M1 Carbine would be considered a C&R firearm.

If so how can I figure out the date of manufacture from the receiver?

Thanks for letting me swim in the pool of knowledge once again.

There are books, but you don't need them. No GI .30 carbines have been made since 1945.

The C&R ruling does not apply to clones, such as the Universal, Iver Johnson, or IAI carbines made later than the 50 year mark, or to carbines altered from the military configuration after the 50 year mark.

Thank you for the reply. You know I thought they made GI carbines into Korea. I guess they were just using the WWII production.
