I've got a nice M1 carbine that has a horrible stock on it. Wanting to replace it but with a decent serviceable wooden stock. I've considered a new wooden one (maybe from http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/BrowseEbus/Militaryall.asp) but I hate the look of the cheap plastic stocks. Has anyone ordered one that looks nice and original? Recommendations?

And before anyone asks whether I did a search for this first, yes I did. And it turned up 2,400 posts and I don't have time to search all that. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I tried e-gunparts.com and they didn't have anything, neither did Cabelas. Cabelas only has the cheap-looking plastic ones. What is CMP?

The big thing is I not only want to shoot my M1 carbine sometimes (which I do...the thing is a blast [pun intended but not guaranteed]) but I also want to display it with my WWII 28th division uniform in my collection. So it needs to look original. Would even be nice to find a stock with the arsenal marks on it.

Thanks for the ideas, gang. Any others?

I think I have one laying around that I could make a good deal on it for you. It has been refinished with some kind of varnish, all cartouches sanded off. It came on my Blue Sky Import, and was probably refinished by them. PM me if interested, and I'll start looking for it.

Crap! There was some kinda database error and it posted several times. Great.

It sounds like the one you have it a little rougher than what I'm looking for. Do you have any pics you could send me?

It will have to be Tuesday before I can get you pics. I left my personal camera 100 miles away on a visit, and I'll have to borrow the camera from work on Monday. I'll get them to you though.
