i just ordered "The M1 Garand Owners Guide" by Scott Duff, also known as "The Scott Duff Green Book" (the autographed version from fulton), and "The M1 Garand Complete Assembly Guide" by Walt Kuleck and Clint McKee.

does anyone have either of these two? and have you enjoyed them?

what other M1 books can anyone suggest for the new M1 enthusiast?

Yep, I have both of those.

Not a book, but there is lots of good information, including disassembly guides, on surplusrifle.com. Like this one -

There are additional ones on the trigger group, bolt, rear sight and front sight.

The CMP forum has good information as well.

If you're interested in how they used to train soldiers to shoot the Garand, Fulton Armory has WWII training films copied to DVD format. I got these without knowing exactly how much benefit I would get...and I got more out of them than I thought. Fairly good introduction to position shooting, though the modern rules have changed a little.

For those with a technical frame of mind, The U.S. .30 Caliber gas operated Service Rifles shop manual by Jerry Kuhnhausen is an excellent reference.

It covers all facets of both the M1 Garand and M14/M1A in microscopic detail.
