M1 Garands at BIG 5 sporting goods...

My local Big 5 sporting goods store has some M1 Garands for $799.00

Anyone bought a rifle from these guys before??

Other Big 5 notifications indicate rough, beat up, rifles at high prices. Jump the hoops and buy through the CMP. You'll know exactly what you're getting(safe to shoot) and for less money. You just don't get it immediately.

there was a thread about this a couple days ago, the general consensuses was that you should avoid the big 5 garands and go with CMP for a better rifle at a cheaper price.

In general Big 5 seems to pick up the surplus weapons that none of the dealers in surplus weapons want. The dregs of the surplus market. Besides, that price is $300. more than a Garand can be had from CMP. So why would anyone buy one there?

Bet they sell every one of them.
