Bought a batch of 2000 (which is a significant number of them, to me anyways) M193s from an online retailer. These were not "blems" "seconds" or "pull downs" but advertised as new product.

Look at the different lengths here, and these nose profiles..... 1000004134.jpg
To me, this is comedic.
OALs are all over the place not only due to their actual length, but due to different diameters at any given point along the ogive thereby mating with the seater stem in different places, making the actual OALs further deteriorated in uniformity.

I've emailed the company earlier in the week, and haven't heard back, but It's Chrismas and I don't expect to. Since they do also sell "blems" "seconds" and pull downs, my guess is I inadvertently received one of those second quality products rather than the top one I ordered.

My goal is to just load "blammo" with these and a mid weight charge of h335, but I'm not even sure I want to due to the lack of uniformity in these darn projectiles.

At 8.5 cents each, I expected better.

Yes, I would have contacted them as well. The 1 on the right looks like normal 55gr fmj, the others look like they missed a jacket forming step or the tip of the die was plugged with something.

Is there just two sizes? Or are there wide variations? I would measure several and see if perhaps there are just two bullets (stamped on different machines, different "lots", different, manufacturers?). Might get lucky and can just use two loads...

Out the vendor if these are house blend projectiles. If it resolves respectfully its good for them for us to see the outcome. If not....

Was this a reputable retailer that you have used before? One of the first things I learned years ago when I first started to reload, is to never buy anything in bulk until you not only were sure of it's quality, but whether or not it worked well for you. Found a "good deal" ain't such a good deal if the product is sub-standard or not as advertised. Poor performing and inaccurate bullets still use good powder and primers that cost as much to send the poor projectile downrange as a good one. Shooting poor performing bullets just to get rid of them, while seeming to be a frugal move, many times is just a waste of good powder and primers, and thus, money and time. 2000 may not seem like "bulk" to some, but even at 8.5 cents a piece, comes out to almost 2 Benjamin's when you add tax and shipping. I'd try my best to get the seller to take them back. But.....maybe they shoot better than they look.

advertised as new product
Mine also. My case of 5000 looked the same. Have 1 box of 500 left over from M16 days. 1980s.

These Winchester 55gr fmjbt were said to have been manufactured on different machines.
But as you, i think 2nds, if truth was told?

Accuracy, most into 1.5" @ 100 yards, with flyers opening 10 shot groups to about 3"" Bolt rifle & M16A1 Carbine, 14.5" barrel.

I'm a cheap so-n-so... but I would send those junkers back. Good heavens...

My concern would be the bullet diameter... if you are loading those up anywhere near max, and you introduce an 'oversized load' (so to speak...) o_O

Who is the retailer?
American Reloading.
Let me note that there also were "seconds" M193 for sale offered for 10$ less per 1k, and also "pulled" ones offered for 10$ less. I just believe I got sent the lower grade product inadvertently, which I don't not want.

They all weigh 55grs.

I'm not that upset if it is what it is, it's the gamble you take buying from a recycler..... If I have to load them all light and just use them for blasting ammo, if they can all group a pie plate at 50yds offhand and not jam, then I have just the job for these, with about 24gr of H335

Had a feeling it was American Reloading. For what it’s worth I ordered 62gr “NEW” and they looked like blems. Consistent but definitely discolored/tarnished.

Honestly, with the price of primers right now, Id do one of two things:
Contact American Reloading and ask what the deal is, and see if you can get your money back.
Shelve them if you cant return, and wait until you have excess primers.

If all I was doing was shooting 25 yard tactical drills, I would keep those. But I would avoid that seller from now on. I’ve bought Magtec bullets from a good source and they looked pretty bad. Lots of different lengths. Maybe some of these manufacturers are allowing themselves a huge tolerance on 193s, hoping people don’t notice or care.

If there are a few “types” in that lot, you could sort them by weigh/length and load in batches for some consistency. They are sill blasting bullets by design. I bought some Remington 55 gr about 10 years ago. They aren’t that bad but still clearly grouped into 3 manufacturing lines by weight and length.

If the weights of the bullets are essentially the same and the COL measured off the ogive is the same, I suspect they will all perform the same. Maybe not match accuracy but adequate just the same.

It looks like the cannalure is essentially the same for each bullet.

Shoot some, if they don't ring your bell, complain to the company.

That's bad, really bad.

I wrote to the company, stating my case.
Now, looking at the impressions on the cannelure, there's at least 2 distinct tool marks indicating that these are a mixed batch, in addition to the ones that differ greatly even with the same characteristics.
They just sent me their inferior product even though the order I purchased indicated they were new, same manufacturer. Lesson learned, don't buy from a recycler.
Disappointed.
