I just bought a Springfield 3rd genaration scope mount fot my M1A. I followed the instalation instructions to the letter and am convinced I did it corectly as I have installed many other mounts on other rifles before.
Anyway, the Weaver style base is high enough that I can still look through the iron sights under the mount. I was doing this when I noticed that the base of the new mount is dramatically off center, about a quarter of an inch to the right. At first I thought that the back was out of square but it is not. Is this intentional? I realize that I will have to install a chiek piece due to the height of the scope. is this off set designed to compensate?
Surely Sprimgfield is aware of this. Do any of you have any experience with this?
