i purchased a standard springfield M1A off gunbroker.com and noticed it came with a national match front sight. it also had a nicer "two-set" trigger pull than other standard M1As that i have shot. is it possible they sent me a M1A "loaded" model? or do some standard M1As come with NM front sights?

My quess would be loaded model. Unless the prior owner upgraded it.
Call Springfield and give them the serial number, I think you can find out that way.

Call or e-mail SA, they well tell how it shipped. it's not uncommon to see a few upgrades from previous owners. SA well do a two stage NM trigger for $25, hard to beat that deal.

My M1A Standard from 2007 came with a NM front sight post and a nice 2-Stage H&R USGI trigger group. IIRC, the Loaded should have a medium weight barrel, which can be either carbon or stainless steel. If you are unsure, I would contact SAI as suggested and find out based on the serial.

AFAIK, Standard M1A rifles have been shipping with NM front sights for years. I've had three. It's probably a standard, with an exceptionally nice trigger.
