I recently picked up a Polytech M1a and took it to the range for the first time today. I was shooting Portuguese 7.62x51 with a 92-11 headstamp. The rifle would not cycle and eject the ammo. The bolt didn't appear to move at all.

Help; ideas; suggestions?

I'm gonna feel like a dope if its that simple. I didn't realize M1as had a gas valve that can open/close.

Thanks guys.

It is the most obvious. The only other thing I could think of is if there is no piston in the gas cylinder but it is probably the spindle valve in the wrong position.

Any tips on getting the gas cylinder plug out? I've used all my Herculean strength and it won't budge.

a wrench or a combination tool should do it. Use a wrench with a pipe on it for a bit more torque, also use some of liquid wrench. My SAI plug was on there pretty tight.

Yes it is a good idea to make sure the gas vent hole is not plugged up as that could do it too.
