My M4 hand guard has aluminum heat shields that slip when I fire the weapon. There is a series of ventilation holes on both halves of the hand guard and the aluminum shield has matching holes. When the shields slip, the aluminum is visible and it partially closes off the ventilation holes. There is about a sixteenth of an inch of play between the front of the aluminum and the hand guard, which allows the aluminum to slide forward. How can I fix this? Superglue? Thanks.

You might stake them in place with a small center-punch.
Just a demple next to each mounting tab should hold them firmly in place.

I suppose super-glue might work too, but don't know that I'd use it until the staking had been tried first.
