I recently bought a Winchester Model 70 in 300 Win. Mag. and was wanting to find the year or manufacture. I know first off, it's not a pre 64 but was just curious of the age.I've been looking all over the net and keep coming up with nothing. Also, this gun does not have a G prefix in front of the serial # ,but from what I have found it should( I think). Can anyone help? Serial # 880837. Thanks in advance, Handle02

My little red book puts it as 1968 production.

That was what I kept finding but I wasn't sure if that was correct, because like I said earlier it doesn't have the ''G'' prefix in front of the serial. Thanks for helping me out on that.Since you have that info in print I have no other reason to believe otherwise. Once again, THANK YOU:D

You didn't say if it was a "push feed" or "classic" action. When they re introduced the pre '64 classic action in the early 1990's, some of the lower unused G prefix serial numbers were used as a starting point.
