M8 6x Leupold Turret Graduations

What do these graduations mean? What is "x9"?

I have several M8 6M scopes so I pulled the literature out of one of the boxes. If it is a target scope with turret gradations the major lines on the turret adjustment are one minute and the minor lines are 1/4 minute. If it is a hunting scope without the target turrets the line increments are 1/2 minute. I didn't see anything about the X9 question. The information applied to all Leupold scopes at the time the M8 was manufactured so it was in general terms. Hope this helps.

The "x 9" appears 2 times, in smaller font, on the outer edge of each graduation disk

Makes sense to me. I guess it all depends on how you look at it
