I had a discussion with my uncle and the topic was about guns in general. The topic turned to machine guns and I said that it was legal to own a regestered machine gun in MN. He bet me $50 that it wasnt and I know I am right since I have shot several legal C and R full autos here. What I need is a link that comes from some place "official" that shows it is legal, and I am right. Can anyone help out?

Thanks

I would call Bill's Guns or Armored Fire. They will be able to fill you in. It is legal to own a machine guns in WI, and MN as far as I know.

I would do a search for "Minnesota gun laws" on google or something. Look for the section on illegal weapons. It will usually have something like: Machineguns, Silencers, Short Barreled Rifles, Explosives etc... But then at the very end it might say something like:

Exemptions for: FFL with Special Occupation Taxpayer status, individuals with ATF registered items, etc...

I think I found what I need.

here is what was sent in a email to him, thought about sending a c&r list too but that is a big list.

take a look at the #3 it is curio and relic firearms.

apprehension or the superintendent's delegate by reason of the
date of manufacture, value, design or other characteristics to

of curiosity, ornaments or keepsakes, and are not likely to be
used as weapons;

thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
now I wonder if he will pay up on it.

Why don't you bring him to the Minnesota GUNFAIR this weekend in Princeton and let him shoot anyone of approximately 400 different Machine Guns for the cost of the ammo. That way you get the $50 and you can spend it on ammo!!!
