1. My only "malfunction" is I'm NOT an M&P fanboy.
2. I OWN an M&P, friend. If I want to comment on a handgun I have personal experience with, I bloody well will.
3. The hard fact is, THOUSANDS of M&P's have had NUMEROUS problems, some of which still have not been rectified.
4. Smith has ALWAYS had problems with their semi-autos. The Sigma was an absolute disaster from the get-go. The M&P hasn't been much better.
Boy, where to start?!?!
1. No, you aren't a fanboy. You appear to be just the opposite...someone who makes sweeping disparaging comments without hard evidence to back it up.
2. So what specifically is the problem with your M&P? Did you send it to S&W to get serviced? Details? S&W's service department has a well deserved reputation. When I sent my M&P in for rust on the slide they replaced it and threw in a pair of Trijicon night sights and an extra magazine.
3. Evidence? Where did you get your thousands number? How does the M&P problem rate compare to the 100's of thousands S&W has produced and how does it compare to other manufacturers? I suspect you have no hard evidence to back up these claims or to compare them to other manufacturers.
4. This is patently false. S&W steel and alloy framed autos have been used by U.S. police forces for years and years with stellar results. They fell out of favor when the less expensive, higher capacity and lighter weight Glock became available.
The Sigma, S&W's first polymer semi-auto, did have teething problems but they are long a thing of the past. There were a few teething issues with the M&P as well. For example the mag catch was redesigned as well as the firing pin.
For your information Glock has made many changes as well, since it was first adopted by some police forces, to improve it's reliablity and performance. Glock, at one point, almost lost it's NYPD contract because of FTF jams that locked the gun up.
