Magazine on Browning BAR

Guy I know has what sounds like (I haven't seen it) a Belgian made Browning BAR (semi auto rifle) with detachable box magazine in 338 WM. Sounds like a 60s-70s era rifle. He says the magazine spring is weak. Does anyone know if the mags on those rifles can be disassembled and the springs replaced? Does anyone sell those springs?
