Has anyone tried this idea?

I have seen something similar online but @ $4 per magnet this would be cheaper than buying one of those @ about $15-$25.

A couple of wood screws, some 3M spray advesive and some thick craft felt and you have a handy behind the nightstand, headboard, closet door, desk, counter etc gun holder.

I supposed a couple of these in a line would even hold a long gun above a closet door etc.

If you have done this what strength magnet did you use?

Minus the cost of the screw most of us have lying around you could probably get a few of these done up for the price of one bought online.

Those look pretty nice and affordable. I use magnets from old computer hard-drives. Not rated for 20+ lbs, but they'll hold a handgun of any size and they're free and they have holes at the ends for screws as well.

Strip magnets are stronger and cheaper, will easily do the job. I've use fabric covered ones on the safe door for securing extra barrels and knives. Fabric protects finish against scratches marks.
