Here in Illinois you can't hunt deer with a semi automatic pistol even though the available calibers are sufficent to get the job done.
The largest animal I could hunt with a Desert Eagle is coyote.
Even so I have always wanted one of these in .44 magnum, 10" barrel, basic black and scoped with decent optics.
I'm thinking no dirt clod or clay bird out to 150 meters would be safe!
Drawback to this pistol is the gas operation.
The gas port means lead bullets should not be used because lead shavings can plug the port and cause less that stellar functioning and the port is extremely difficult to clean.
Spare magazines are expensive too.
I have fired several Desert Eagles over the years, all were plenty accurate, reliable with good ammunition and none have ever broke that I am aware of.
