Does anyone have one of these? I was thinking about getting one, probaby 454Casull, maybe 500S&W. I already have a Taurus Raging Bull 454Casull. The other choices are Ruger SRH and Freedom Arms. The later are excellent, but pricey. The SRH, I've read, has had some problem with cylinder binding due to fouling. Any and all comments welcome.

A buddy brought one to a poker game at my house (without ammo, I should add). It was a .454 model, with a relatively short barrel, seems like it was 4 1/2", but it was probably 5", I can't remember.

Needless to say, we didn't do any accuracy testing in the basement, but I checked it out and it was pretty cool. I've never handled a Freedom Arms Casull so I can't compare the two, but compared to my .44s this thing seemed rock solid. Fit and finish were very good. The single best word I can use to describe it is "solid," which is probably to be expected. Interestingly, the cylinder doesn't swing out to load/unload, instead you feed the rounds one-by-one like some cowboy guns. (Actually, I think he said there was a way to swing the cylinder out, but it wasn't obvious to me.)

I realize this is a borderline useless post, but it's the best I can do.

I looked long and hard at a BFR in .480/.475 Linebaugh. The appearance of the triggerguard is sorta crude to me, and it didn't seem terribly well fitted.

It might be an okay pistol, but put one side by side with a Freedom Arms there is no comparison - the FA is superior in fit, finish and accuracy - think of it as a 4 lb Swiss watch:D

Oh yeah, I bought a Super Redhawk in .480. Can't afford the FA.:)

I've had a 45/70 tem inch model for going on three years. Works just a well now as when I bought it used. I put a One Ragged Hole sight on it. Makes target acquisition much easier. I really like Speer " Idaho Territory" 405 lead loaded ahead of either 3031 or 5744. Use Rx7 for some real thumper loads but these need a shooting glove because they will sting. Great SA's to shoot and it's a real hoot to bounce mild jugs around a hillside at 200 yards. About half the price of a Freedom Arms and that is lots of ammo and accessories.

I know Redhawk1 has one in .500s&w. I seen one at the gun show this past weekend. It's big, but it looks very cool. If you have the money and a use for it, get it. I would go for the .454.

As an FYI.... I just got a response from Magnum Research about using 45Colt rounds in the BFR 454Casull. The answer is ..."not recommended, but if you do, clean the cylinders thoroughly..."

I know the Taurus RB owners manual says it is ok (presumably with the cylinder cleaning caveat), and FA does not recommend. I believe that Ruger says OK for the SRH.

BFR is a great gun

I have the BFR in 500MAG. What a great gun. Shoots like a dream and very accurate. I sent it to Mag-na-port and had them cut the barrel back to 5 1/4 inches, invert the muzzle crown, reinstall the front sight and put 4 port porting on it. It is just as accurate and fun to shoot. I also installed Hough wooden grips and had it drilled for a scope mount. I can either shoot iron sights or put my Ultra-dot on it. I have a S&W500 and have it up for sale because I like the BFR much more. I think the BFR is a very well made gun. I have over 500 rounds of full load 440 gr. bullets through it and not one problem. I highly recommend the BFR. :D
