I just found out that MR will no longer be importing the Baby eagle and Desert eagle pistols. I was told that KBI will be importing the baby Eagles as Jericos and no word on the 50AE/44MAG/357MAG Desert eagles.

So the Jerico is going back to its first importer.

Thank God. Maybe the Deagle will finally disappear into obscurity where it belongs.

That's odd considering Magnum Research(Of Minneapolis, MN) designed the Desert Eagle pistol. IWI(previously known as IMI) produces the pistol but MR had the patents and copyrights to the name and design. Afterall production of the Desert Eagle went from IMI to Saco Defense then back to IMI(now IWI) so clearly IWI doesn't own the rights.

Until I hear some official story I'm thinking that its only the Baby Eagle that no longer being imported by MR which is an IWI designed pistol known as the Jericho in Israel.

KBI has anounced that they will be selling the Jerico pistols. MR said that IWI wont be making the Desert eagle pistol and have yet to find a replacement builder.

My guess is that there will be a few months gap in desert eagle production.

If that happens hopefully the use of the name "Deagle" will go along with it.

Any chance that if the story is true and KBI is importing these as Jericho's, that maybe we'll get the standard Jericho frame mounted safety?

I had a Baby Eagle in 9MM (Replaced it with a P226ST), but if they start bringing in models with a frame mounted safety, I may be tempted to get one.

What's wrong with Deagle? Besides the fact that it's almost as akward to say as a Deagle is to hold and shoot.

I haven't said deagle since the last time I played counter strike, like... 2 years ago. That game's gun-related inaccuracies angered me...

Do you guys hate the Auto Mag as well? How about the LAR Grizzly?

The only reason why people hate the Desert Eagle is that its popular in movies and games. If it was like the above magnum auto pistols(unpopular) then no one would care.

I've seen this happen in other hobbies. If its mainstream popular, then there is always a group that will hate it because of that.

What is a Deagle? Did you mean Beagle? were talking about pistols not pooches.

One of the "old timers" that works for me hunts deer/hog with his .44mag Desert Eagle. The desert eagle has its purpose.

Maybe the safety on the Jericho will be moved to the place it belongs, on the frame. How MRI could have gone for years offering that silly slide de-cocker without realizing it was hampering sales is a wonder.

I realize there is a certain hatred toward the desert eagle pistols due to the counter strike games and other video games, but how many of the haters have really spent any time shooting one of them? I have the baby eagle in the .45 acp and love it. It fits my hand well, shoots well, I am a leftie so it works well in my left hand. The baby eagle is based off of the CZ design. Sometimes I think that these pistols get bashed a lot just because of their popularity in the video game world. Just my 2 cents.

Amen. I love my DE in 44 and 50.

If I could get a frame mounted safety I would buy one. Right now the only reason I don't have a baby eagle is I can't find any of the older models with a frame mounted safety. Personally I don't like the Desert Eagle to big, bulky and heavy for my tastes.

About 20 years ago I spent a couple days making experimental rounds for a DE in .44. Most of them didn't work. (Actually, only one of six or seven did work.) That was for a friend, whom I gave the recipes to. He has since lost the recipe, and I made the mistake of not saving it. Recently acquired a DE, and want to know if anybody out there has a recipe for them that will work.
Thanks

???...huh?

Wrong. I can't stand the DE because it's a monstrosity. The balance is off, the grip is too large for just about anyone but an NBA player, it weighs a friggin ton and I found it very uncomfortable to shoot and hard to control due to the large size of the grip. Not to mention that it's plain ugly, big old slab sided triangular thing. And let's not forget the god awful finishes available for all the pimps and hustlers. I mean come on, gold tiger stripe? Give me a break.

The baby eagle on the other hand is not a bad gun, I have no issue with the baby eagles, save one. The reach to the trigger is pretty long and I have short fingers so it's a little harder to shoot than any of the pistols I own. Besides that the baby eagles are a blast, accurate, reliable, fun to shoot. My brother owns 2, a stainless in 9mm and a blued in .40 cal.

Wrong.

For the most part I am right. The Youtube idiots with their Desert Eagle's only reinforce the negative stereotype that comes with owning a Desert Eagle.

I don't have a problem shooting it. I'm only 155 lbs and don't it too heavy for me to handle. Its heavy compared to a Glock or any other normal service pistol but so are large frame magnum revolvers like the S&W 500 Magnum. There is no free lunch, you can't chamber a magnum cartridge in an auto pistol and expect it to be small and lightweight.

Not to mention that it's plain ugly, big old slab sided triangular thing.

Looks are personal taste. I think the SAA is the best looking revolver ever made. I've seen others that literally think its the ugliest revolver ever made. Who is right? Not worth arguing.

And let's not forget the god awful finishes available for all the pimps and hustlers. I mean come on, gold tiger stripe? Give me a break.

Again, perception from Hollywood. "Deagle=pimp or hustler gun lolz"

Nevermind many will shoot sub 1" groups at 25 yards. Better than probably 95% of the factory produced auto pistols available today. Can a 9mm down a bear or other large game with one shot? The Desert Eagle's accuracy and power make it a great range or hunting pistol. Different guns for different purposes.

Matte black and hard chrome are the two most common finishes on the Desert Eagle. The same matte black finish found on the "practical" Baby Eagle. Hard chrome is one of the best finishes available today for guns. Its very durable, easy to clean and provides great protection. If you don't believe me then look in the chamber of an AR-15 or AK-47 and tell me what plated substance you see.

There is no need for the Desert Eagle to disappear unless the market decides it should. If enough people want one that it justifies the manufacturing of them, then all hail capitalism. I personally think they are absurd and wouldn't buy one. Thus I represent the portion of the market who won't be spending money on that product.

As for the safety/decocker being on the slide of the Baby Eagle, I don't have a problem with it there. It is easily thumbed on or off and it gives some extra leverage in working the slide. In fact, the only problem I've ever had with Baby Eagle is the slide release's position; it is a bit cumbersome to operate. This is remedied by calling Magnum Research and ordering a Jericho version of the release, something I've done for all my Baby Eagles.
