Not sure exactly where this should go, but my observations yesterday...

Magpul announced it plans to be making magazines in another state within 30 days. I applaud Magpul for the follow-through, although not sure if/how many employees will move with the company. Have not heard where they are going, though.

Also saw, but ONLY on Fox News Channel, that Colt President stated that Colt no longer feels welcome in CT. Hmmmmm Doesn't Colt have 800 or so employees?

Mossberg is in North Haven, CT, and has the Maverick division in Eagle Pass, TX. I'm sure Texas would want more jobs for people.

Havent heard anything from them, but Ruger could leave CT, too. They already have some operations in Prescott (??) AZ.

How many companies are in NY State? Kimber is in Yonkers, Remington in Illion. I'm sure there are more, but that is all I can think of right now.

I know this is a lot of speculation, but it does beg the question of these states about which is more important....Jobs, and the tax revenue generated, as well as citizens have disposable income, or disarming America.
 
It seems like the legislators in Colorado didn't care about the economic impact.

The far left is dividing the nation, but there ignorance may be good for people in the south. Personally I avoid purchasing from anti-gun states, perhaps in time if more people did this those states would see the light.

Remington has a plant in Maysville, KY where they make rimfires. We would LOVE to have their centerfire production lines as well.

not one bit. they did hype up moving (paying for) a NY financial company to Denver though. I'm sure that's comforting to the folks in Erie.
 
That would be insane. The current tax environment in Oregon would kill them. While the Red Guard makes $1000 a job sound like a plum, it wouldn't come close to offsetting the corporate tax burden.
 
I've always found it baffling how so many gun manufacturers are located in areas where their product is heavily restricted, if not outright banned, for their employees to use. I'm glad Magpul is stepping up.

Beretta also said they would leave Maryland if the proposed ban was passed. They already moved a portion of their company after Maryland's last round of gun grabbing. I haven't heard any update lately.

I doubt it, and certainly hope not. Oregon is too California to be a trustworthy place for Magpul to move to. I lived in Oregon for 10 years, and loved the natural beauty of the state, and still have family there. But the major population centers are now overrun by the same left of center politics that is killing California and other blue states. The same thing that's happened to Colorado is more likely in Oregon than just about any other state I can think of. It is the last place that Magpul should want to move to.

Also, the article says something about other communities, not states competing for the business under consideration. That doesn't sound like Magpul.
 
Saw an article just today that Colt is considering moving out of CT, nothing solid according to Colt heads. Article said that Colt puts about $1.7 Billion into the CT economy. Antis truly do not think about their laws effecting their own state. Colorado is guilty of the same with Magpul moving out, just not as high dollar amount.
 
The large gun manufacturers may only move their headquarters, at least at first. That is easy for them to do.

I used to work for a company that moved it's headquarters from Wisconsin due to an unfavorable governmental environment. Production facilities are still there.

But, gun making equipment is a bit more portable than a paper machine.
 
Magpul will move to a Right to Work state, also with a good corporate, and personal tax environments that will probably offer them enough incentives to offset the costs of the move. Magpul's purpose is to make money, period. To that end, the believe it is important to adhere to the principals by which most gun owners, and enthusiasts live. Respect for the 2A is important, and while the senior management I'm sure is committed to it, they must also think of the short and long term profitability of the company.
 
For the "Old Guard" gun makers to leave their historical locations would be a bitter pill. In some cases generations of families have ties to a maker.
You can be sure there are talks about it in board rooms, but they'd do all they can to remain where their roots are.
For Magpul it's a little easier.
An hour north and they're in Wyoming or a little further either NE or east and they;re in Nebraska or Kansas.
 
IMHO Magpul would be wise to look in the Southern Utah area (St. George or the Washington County area). VERY gun friendly area and state, the local government seems to be pretty friendly to new businesses coming in, locating is good with major hwy (I-15), local "regional" airport and Vegas is just down the road.

I have decided I will no longer purchase (no matter how much I want a particular model/make) a weapon made in a Non-Free state.

I will let those Manf know why as well.

We are watching them as well.

A gentleman from S/A wrote me back with a very polite and reasoned letter about how they have been a part of the community of Geneso for many decades. He talked about how they have developed relationships with the people, schools, other business', etc. He told me about how they, too, have a disdain for the politics of Chicago. And he said they felt they could in no way leave the fine people of the place where they are.

I understand and appreciate all of this, I sincerely do. I told him so, but also told him that no matter how much I would love to buy an XDs, that I will in no way contribute to the tax base of a state that wants to deny my right to own the product they make.

People will be economically hurt, but this is a battle for Freedom.

That's a very interesting approach, I think I'll give that some thought..


So if all the companies and pro freedom folks moved to Texas or other southern states, can we just call it Civil War 2.0? /sarcasm :)

I know this might sound a bit crass, but who is watching the antis in your metropolitan areas? Any sign of Bloomberg funneling illegal campaign dollars or promise for special treatment, if they toe his ss gestapo line?
 
come to Tx, we welcome them and have plenty of room. I heard a rumor that Magpul already secured land in Whitchita Falls Tx but not sure how true that is.

I for one am. I have been on a very active campaign to email, write and physically go to my representative's local offices and tell them a simple fact. "if you vote for any 2nd amendment restrictions, I will vote against you and actively campaign against you. No matter what else you do, I just don't care. I am an active voter and never miss an election."

For me, I have drawn the line in the sand and now am actively engaging my representatives to actually represent my point of view.

CT's governor does not care either. In fact it seems he is almost happy they are leaving as it means less guns in the state. He is so rabidly anti-gun that to him the loss of 1.7 billion in revenue means nothing. He will simply raise taxes on the rest of us to make up for it.

To him gun makers are a cancer on our state and he would actually prefer them to go out of buisness but moving out of state is good enough for him until he gets to DC and starts working on gun control at the fed level.
