I own a TC Contender rifle and would like to send it off for a trigger job via USPS. The smith I will use wants the action only with no stock or barrel. Since there is no difference between rifle and pistol actions, am I in possible legal jeopardy by sending a rifle receiver via US mail? Can any bare rifle receiver be legally mailed?

TIA

If it is the serial numbered part, it is the firearm, and thus subject to mailing regulations. The short answer is no, you must use UPS or FedEx. Shipping it from a local FFL is your safest bet.

USPS regs say I may mail a rifle to a FFL. That said. I just read dogtown tom's sticky above and one cannot mail a bare receiver. That makes sense, in a way. As if any of this makes sense. Oh well, thanks for the reply.

A mod may as well lock this, it's been answered.
