Mailing a muzzleloader to Florida

May I (SC resident), the owner of a muzzleloader (TC Omega), sell and ship it to an individual in Florida?

Neither one of us are FFL holders.

i dont think muzzle loaders are considered firearms by the feds. so i think yes

As long as the receiver of the ML isn't a felon, yes you can send it. I have had a couple of ML sent to my house here in FL.

Correct. Black powder guns aren't considered guns by the ATF, and may be mailed direct.

I don't know him.

Felons can walk in to a store and buy a muzzleloader right?

while they arent supposed to buy them there is no background check for a muzzleloader

Why not ask him? If he says yes, then don't sell to him.

If he says no, then you've fulfilled your obligation as per the law. As long as you have no reason to believe that he's a prohibited person, you're in the clear. And since you don't know him personally, you're pretty much forced to take him at his word.

Have the buyer send you a copy of their DL with a statement saying that they can legally own said ML. You have done the best that you can. Enjoy your money and forget about it.
