I just put money down on a "NIB" MAK-90. It did appear unfired when I inspected it. The only flaw was a touch of corrosion on the piston, but nothing that won't clean up fine. It came with 3 of the low-cap magazines and has a thumbhole stock.

I actually like the stock, it seems to fit well in my big hands. Anyone have experience with these? What can I expect, and did I do okay at $400 + tax? May I legally use hi-cap mags with the MAK-90, or do I need to add a certain number of U.S. parts first?

I have a mak-90 that was in good condition, but not nib by no means. i paid $300 out the door, it came with a 30rd mag and the thumbhole stock, which was the first thing i changed on it. $400 ain't bad i would pay that for another one especially after the way mine performs. i absolutly love mine. I have fired over a 1000rds through mine. Wolf exclusivly. 122gr fmj, and 154gr sp, which i have found the 154 gr sp to be the most accurate. performance wise i have had zero issues out of the gun. A couple rds of the wolf did not fire when the primer was hit so i just recycled them in the gun and they fired the second time. As far as accuracy, using 25 meter pistol targets, at 50yds, i can get 3 shot groups in a quarter, and 5 shot groups in a half dollar size circle, and that is from the prone. from the prone at 100 meters, i have 3 shot groups in a half dollar size all day long, cold barrel, warm or hot, it is very consistant. that is with the stock iron sights. my favorite thing to do is to destroy copenhagen cans at 100yds. i would suggest that you get a sight adjustment tool, especially since it is that new the sights might be a little off. My elevation was perfect but the windage was off. i want to put a bi-pod on mine and i will be set. I think you will love it they are sweet.

I've got one. Great shooter, Excellent trigger, I like the thumbhole stock too. I've got a few evil assault rifles. Don't need another one. Your price is acceptable but no steal. I got mine for $275 in a person to person deal with a knife and other stuff in trade. Its very accurate. I use it as a canoe/kayak gun. Stays in the hull in a bag, gets wet, stepped on, muddy, ect. Comforting to have amongst the meth heads and drunks I occasionaly encounter in the backwaters.

Oh yeah i almost forgot about the trigger, but thanks roadkill, my trigger on my mak is super i haven't felt a trigger like that on another ak/sks or milsurplus gun before. Many people are suprised when they shoot it, and that is the first thing they notice. clean and crisp.

Got one for $ 300.00 brand new, like it a lot,put military stocks on it,didn't like them (cause I'm about a foot-and-a-half taller than the average Chinese)and put the thumbhole back on.I think it's purty, and my trigger pull is decent too.Got two Chinese 75 round drums, use it for a last-ditch zombie gun.One of the best AKs out there, you did good

Reference the AKs in general, kind of ironic that out of all the hardware I'm fortunate enough to own and shoot that the most actually used guns I have is the MAK90 for boat/canoe/kayak and a Yugo Mod 70 Underfolder with five magazines at home. Cannot beat those things for size, power, relaibility, and price. I will not take a $1000 plus gun in a boat and the other with ammo is stashed in a inconspicious night vision container marked "Tool Kit". I shoot a magazine out of each everytime I go shooting to rotate ammo.
