I read the Wiki article but don't yet understand the dynamics of the tool. Can you or anyone for that matter explain how it works?
Guess I ought to go to You Tube, but I like THR a lot more.

Edit to add: I think I get it now. Went back and looked at pictures. One picture had a stick in/on the horse.

Right- your butt goes on the seat, your feet go on the pegs at the bottom of the long vertical piece (oak in my picture), and pushing the pegs forward tightens the clamp, which pivots where it crosses the main frame component. You naturally tighten the clamp as your upper body pulls back on the drawknife.

A shaving horse works like a quick release clamp or vice.
