A women that I know from the range hasn't had her permit for very long. Her choice for her first handgun (and first gun of any kind) was a semi-auto .22 target pistol. I'm not sure of the brand.
She's been doing some defensive-pistol type shooting and sees that the .22 just isn't going to cut it. So she's in the market for something else.
Her ex-boyfriend (now "best friend") had let her shot one or two of his pistols, but she hadn't liked any of them.
Since I have a small variety of handguns, in various calibers, I offered to meet her at the range and let her try them, side by side, so she could really compare calibers and grips etc.
I'm one of a few revolver shooters in our circle of shooters, and someone told her that I really just wanted to convert her to "the other side". She'd joked that she didn't want to go over to the "dark side" of shooting.
Well I brought a little bit of everything I had, some glock, Taurus, And some S&W, both auto and revolvers (just to let her feel some .38s and .357s). And just to show her the variety that's available, I brought a Taurus 905, that's a 5 shot, J-frame size revolver and a full size EAA Witness.
I gave her pro and con of each gun as she tried them. And told her I wasn't there to decide anything for her, but just to show her her options.
Well she shot everything I had, and actually seemed to like the feel of power with my 10mm Witness. When we had gone through everything, I asked her if there was anything she wanted to try again. She hesitated, and finally said yes. It was the Taurus revolver!
I think the "dark side" has made another convert!
