Man shot saving his Auto

This guy heard someone breaking into his auto at midnight last night. He runs out with a ballbat and trys to stop this guy trying to drive his auto out of drive. Well this guy in the auto shoots him in the head through the drivers window then he jumps out and runs off. Real smart people both making big mistakes. Guy trying to use a ballbat to stop the car thief. The car thief turning it into attemped murder. I think the lesson learned here is never start any attack unless your really well armed. Always keep in mind the other guy might be armed.

Upon second thought, mebbe that sentiment isn't always true. There are some fights that are worth fighting even if you don't expect to win.

But for a car, though? Definitely not. Yer life's worth more than your car.

Ok, to be on topic, who here thinks it's a bit stupid to carry a baseball bat to a car robbery? You can't swing through an A-pillar, at least not without a big glass bill later...

where this occured. Cuz if it happened in a place like DC, then the masses are prohibited from keeping a loaded weapon or assembled firearm in their home. Maybe the guy didn't have time to put his gun together or get it loaded!

In the Christian theory of self-defense as elaborated on by Augustine and Aquinas a blow to the head administered by a civilian is immoral as it indicates that the civilian intends the death of his attacker. In self-defense a civilian may risk the life of an attacker, but he may not intend for his attacker to die.

Edit: Forget the above. I misread the OP and thought someone was carjacking another with a baseball bat.

Correction

The report I first heard on TV News said he the victim was shot in the head. Today the local paper report is he was shot in the hip.

This happened in Tulsa, OK. Victim heard car alarm going off. Took bat outside to see what was going on. Seen perp in the car and went after him. Perp shot victim and ran off. News first reported that the victim was shot in the head but later stated it was in the hip.

You do different things at different times in your life. Twenty years ago I confronted four (4) yes four, car thieves in the process of stealing my two (2) seater sportscar. I had a Ruger 10/22 with ten (10) rounds of standard velocity .22 solids. Put five (5) of those into the back of their fleeing Trans-Am. My assistant district attorney girl friend was not amused nor impressed with my heroism. I would not repeat that act again with a 12 gauge pump, even with her as back-up. An early Wednesday morning car theft ends with one person shot and the police searching for a suspect. It happened about 1 AM near 4th and Garnett.

Tulsa Police say the victim went outside his home to see why his car alarm was going off. That's when he saw someone attempting to steal his vehicle. He tried to stop the suspect with a baseball bat.

Tulsa Police Sgt Curtis Beard: "The suspect managed to get the car started and was backing out of the drive-way and when the victim approached him, the suspect who was inside the victim's vehicle fired one shot through the side glass, striking our victim one time in the hip."

The suspect then bailed out of the car and ran away. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
