I'm looking for a shotgun to use as a basis for building into the ultimate personal duty/tactical/HD shotgun. In doing research for my base gun I went to the FN website and was checking out the standard police model.
It suspiciously looks like a Winchester 1300 Defender and is described as having a rotating bolt and a fast, inertia assisted action.
Is the 1300 Defender and FN Standard Police Model the same gun or are they different just with similar features?
Are prices similar?
Does one have a quality control advantage over the other? :scrutiny:

...Sorry Trapper

I'm working the PGO-ICU* this week, and we gotta a Code Blue... huff, puff, huff...< pushing crash cart> :D

Paging "Dr. Uno" **...report to the Shotgun Forum

* Pistol Grip Only - Intensive Care Unit
** Dr. Uno is the hopital code for Ultimate. ;)

Stevelyn - Not wanting to be a non-helpful smartxxx, here's the thread which we're referencing.

I don't know enough about the differences to help you, but I'm sure someone will. As per the referenced thread, just be careful about the "ultimate" label. It carries some baggage. :scrutiny:

:D Perhaps "ULTIMATE" was too harsh and provocative of a word to use in a forum such as this and something less alarming, more utilitarian and user friendly description such as " a couple of useful aftermarket features added on" should have been used instead. Didn't mean to needlessly place ya'll on high alert. Stand down from Code Ultimate.....Repeat.....Stand down from Code Ultimate. :neener:
BTW no pistol grips for me I think it would just get in the way.
Now, back to the original request...........

My 1300 is made in CT by USRAC, a Winchester "licensee." Are the FN's Belgian or US made? It does look identical.

Ed

The FN is a slightly beefed up 1300.

For the ultimate combat shotgun..... you need all the accessories.

Get a Remington 870 Police Magnum, and never look back. There is a reason it's the most sold shotgun (six million plus) in the world and the most issued cop shotgun.
