I purchased a 1981 Marlin 1894C. Just havin a ball shootin this. Been working great with 38sp at 50 yards. 56 year old eyes not as sharp as they use to be, so looking for replacement sights. Not interested in a scope, that just takes something away from this rifle. It has a small brass ball and fold down rear. Looking for recomendations from the experienced on this board. Thanks....Marty

Skinner does a good job, I have them on my 1894c and 39m. The rear sight has a removable part that enlarges the sight hole. Thus going from a peep to a ghost ring sight...neat. I needed to buy the front sight, I'd suggest you do the same and save yourself the postage on a second mailing.

Williams receiver sight.

You can get small aperatures for target shooting, medium or large for hunting, or take it clear out and it's a ghost ring.

This is a target knob model, but you can also get them with just screw slots instead of knobs.
I happened on this one for $15 bucks on eBay or it wouldn't have knobs.

A tang sight is another option. It will get the aperture closer to your eye.

Another Skinner fan here. Reasonable price and great results. I opted for brass front/rear sets for my 1894 and 1895. I just like the look.

That Skinner is what I'm looking for. What have you guys done for the front? How do you know what hight you need after mounting the rear on the reciever?

Buy the front sight from skinner and then you will need to shoot from rest and file the post to your liking to get it the most accurate... Very easy to do.

Here is info from Docs page:

I'm 64 years old and I've recently re-discovered lever guns. I've got skinners on my Marlin 94 and on two Marlin model 39's......as well as on a Rossi. I have really come to like my peep sights for fun shooting at short range. Amazing how well these guns group out to 100 yards or so with these sights. Fast handling and great fun at our range.

I would get an aperture sight, but one that is actually click adjustable... like the Williams FP and the Lyman.

I like how close a tang sight gets to your eye, but I don't like how they mount right where my thumb likes to wrap around the stock, so I prefer a receiver mount.

I have the Skinner LowPro peep sight on my 1894C .357 Magnum, have not had to purchase a taller front sight. With the factory front sight has been fine, at least at 50 yards, shooting factory Federal .357 Mag 158 gr JSP's, and accuracy has been good for me (1.5"-2" groups) offhand. I'm happy with the setup.

I have a Marbles Tang sight on my 1894C and a Lyman on my 39M, both of the have Merit adjustable peep discs in them.
I would rather have a Marbles tang than the receiver ones.
