Just got a pre safety 336, won't feed correctly. Problem is the carrier isn't lifting the round up high enough to feed. Ends up short stroking against the chamber face. Suggestions?
I've got the same problem with my newer 336. I found that lever is rounded off where it's supposed to be a square corner. My smithy told me I needed a new lever and possibly the spring loaded plunger that rides on the lever. He still has the gun. I found the problem while checking zero before deer season. Fortunately I have another older 336 to use while it's out of commission.
I had the same problem a few weeks ago and Chawbaccer pointed me to the web site he mentioned. I will say that it was spot on and now I'm seeing a few more Marlin's in the shop since word got out that I cured the problem on one.
Many "Thanks" to you Chawbaccer.
Fixed the problem myself - I used JB weld and sections of a hacksaw blade to build up the underside of the carrier. Feeds perfectly now. That was a great web site for information. Thanks again.
