I have a Marlin 336 purchased new in 1978. It fell off my horse in rough terrain and broke the rear sight apart and I was unable to find the parts. The only surviving sight part was the main leaf. I need to know if the same factory sight for the 336A, 336C, etc., will fit the 336. If so, I can order one complete from Numrich. I'm having trouble reaching them.

Orders less than $35 incur an extra "small order charge"

I too would consider a reciever sight. The Williams "Guide" reciever sight mounts in the rear scope mount holes on the reciever. I have one on a 1895 GG and a CVA in-line M/L . They are a great value. Both have the apertue removed for "ghost ring" effect. Better for low light such as dusk and dawn. (when deer typically are moving).
The "Guide" reciever sight is currently on sale for ~$28. I also have a couple of 5D's on a Marlin/Glenfield M30 in .30/30 and a Win M94 "Legacy" in .45lc. William's now makes a 5D that mounts on the top reciever (scope) screw holes on the later Marlins that don't have the side tapped sight holes. They are a little more expensive but have easier adjustments.
Best is the "Sour Dough", as it has "click" adjustments like a scope, but are a bit more expensive.
The Reciever sight and "Fire Sight" front sight set is the best alternative to the factory sights. I've got the "Fire Sights" on both the aforementioned 1895 and M30 as well as the CVA M/L. I really like them since my eyes are those of a 55yr old. Not as sharp or clear as they used to be.
