Marlin 336 Texan...Need Help?

I have a Marlin 336 and I was wondering if it was a "Texan". It has an 18" barrel, straight stock, square lever, and gold plated trigger. The model is stamped 336 not 336T and here is the s/n: 20028XXX.

Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like what I always thought a Texan was supposed to look like. A mystery to me too.

If I were in the market for another .30-30, one like yours would be on the short list.
 
It just has a 336T barrel. Marlin often used whatever barrels it had laying around that were extras. It is not a Texan unless it has the straight carbine stock.

I know one thing, they are tough to find when you want one. The "Texan" was the first rifle I ever hunted with--a loaner from my dad who horse traded it from my brother. In the passing of time the rifle passed back to my brother. And I still want one for my collection.

Still think the 18 inch Texan is one of the fastest handling hunting rifles ever.

I bought a 336 in early summer from a neighbor that was a long sought after .35 Remington.
It just "happened" to be an early 60's Texan in excellent shape and a super shooter to boot ( 3 shots, 1 inch at 100yds.)
