I'd planned on attending a Appleseed Project shoot, and decided to turn my trusty'ol M60 into a Appleseed 'Liberty Training Rifle'.
I bought'er NIB in 95' and she has served well.
Dang near a tackdriver outta'da box with decent ammo.
I can count rifle related malfunctions on one hand.
For'er remake, I added Tech-SIGHTS, USGI Sling and 1.25" sling swivel studs.
The rear swivel stud was a exercise in simplicity.
The front took a little thinking to make sure it was done right and not come loose.
I trimmed two sides off a t-nut and then inletted the stock so it would sit just below flush under the mag tube and trimmed the swivel stud's shaft so it wouldn't protrude.
I then took'er to the range and sighted her in.
This my last target, 14rnds fired from the bench at 25 meters, using the USGI sling & Tech-SIGHTS and CCI Mini-Mag 36gr CPHP.
I did buy a Spee-D-Loader for the shoot, and at least one Instructor is going to be buying after seeing mine in action.
Oh yeah, I got my Rifleman patch
Would've had on the first AQT of the day if my Marlin 60 hadn't malfunctioned.
I only got 2 of 10 shots on the second course (200yd) of the AQT, and still finished with a score of 195, only fifteen points shy.
Next day nailed down a solid 220pts on the AQT.

As for that malfunction?
The range was pretty sandy & dusty and the dust is like talc, Saturday was gusting pretty strong, blowing sand & dust.
Blew over the staked shade tents, blew ground cover & shooting mats over and put more than a couple rifles in the dirt.
Mine was one, barrel full of sand/dust, patched it out, inspected quickly and it mal'd again a few times.
I took it it home and stripped it down, and found the extractor wells impacted with a sludge of dust & lube. I figured this was the problem.
It ran fine all day the next day... Then it mal'd again, and again.
I had to borrow a rifle to shoot the AQT.
I get it back home and this time go at it very methodically.
I tear down the bolt, inspect the extractors, springs and slots.
Look again at the extractor well next to the chamber.
Brush and patch the bore.
Hand cycle a few dozen rounds and still get a few FtEs.
Break out a bore light and inspect the bore/chamber.
Whats that in the chamber, it seems dark?
A quick gentle scraping yields some weird looking carbon fouling in the chamber, it must've been the dust that baked in with some carbon.
Try dropping a round into the chamber, it hangs up, push it in, in doesn't readily drop free.
Break out a larger copper bore brush (243) and solvent, and scrub the chamber real well.
Rounds freely move in/out of chamber now.
Hand cycling yields no more FtEs.
I do not normally use a copper brush, and when I do it is a normal .22 brush.
I've never in 16 years paid any special attention to the chamber of this rifle.
Guess I either needed to before the shoot, or due to the shoot's somewhat extreme conditions.
16 years and never had a problem other than a rare stovepipe, or bad ammo.
Count my blessings.
