On my lunch break today I bought a Marlin 795 on an impulse buy.... new in box for $95 after rebate..... I don't know much about these... I just know I love my other Marlin rifles such as the 60, 336CS, 917V etc..... At the price I figured it to be a good deal...

what can you folks tell me about the 795? accuracy, durability etc....

Dick's started a rifle sales last weekend....I was able to snag a 795 for ~$80 after the rebate. I've taken it to the range once and was very impressed. It ran Federal bulk HP without issue to the tune of 300 rounds and was accurate enough with them that i could group on 1.5" dots from 75' with the irons. I plan to add a set of Tech-Sights and take the Marlin to Appleseed in August. Yep, very nice and an incredible value.

I bought one for my son for his birthday. I agree with gondorian, accurate rifle but I'm not a big fan of the trigger. The trigger on my 39A Golden is MUCH nicer!

Once upon a time there were 25 round magazines. Sadly those are no longer manufacture and the largest are 15 rounders available here and other places

well I took the 795 to the range today..... very impressive accuracy for a dirt cheap gun.... I put a $50 Bushnell 3 X 9 scope on it and did quite well at 50 yards.... not match accuracy of course..... but for a cheap plinker, I am happy...

go over to rimfirecentral.com for many threads on the 795, particularly look for a dude, who bought one in I think Argentina, and see all the tweeks he did to his, and the game he takes down with it!!!!
the 795 is highly underrated, but can be said to be the best semi auto for under 300 bucks that you can get; and you can get them for under 100.
plus they are so super light and handy, the only thing handier would be a papoose; same stock, stainless other stuff. the origional papoose had a wood stock, and an actual attached forearm.
I'll give you 3 quick things to do right here, to help accuracy and they are cheap. one, replace the trigger return spring, with a old computer/drive door spring, or cut a ring out of that one. Two; either put a little pressure pad up front , under the bbl , between it and the stock, or wrap the bbl/stock alltogether , with a wrap for racquetball racquet rewrap stuff; if is very tacky and very stretchy, but curiously, only sticks real good to itself. This is of course two very cheap bedding jobs. Three; put some strips, the size of finger bandaids, down inside the sides/bottom, a few layers thick, of aluminum tape, down inside the stock/action area, that you can buy at home despot or such. This will make your reciever/action fit in super snug, inside the stock.

By the way, if you have not tried ammo from Eley/Aguila/golden eagle yet, get some of those. also try wolf, and anything by CCi, and last but
not least, American Eagle, red box, which is made by Federal. One of the
above ammos, should shoot lights out for you...

Hello friends and neighbors // I enjoy my 795, it does what it is supposed to do every time, just like my Model 60 and Papoose.

I'd say ,other than the pluses already mentioned, the mags being interchangeable between the Papoose and the 795 is my biggest.

Congrats on a great price for a fine firearm.
