I recently picked up a Marlin 80G at the local pawn shop, since the price was right and I like old guns. There's a problem though: when I pull the bolt back after firing a round, the brass doesn't eject. It stays stuck on the bolt. I've gotten good at flicking the brass out, but I'd rather the thing worked like it's supposed to.

I believe that the problem is that the ejector is missing. However, when I check Numrich, I can't find an ejector for the 80G. They sell an ejector that fits all of the other 80 variants (here's a link), but I can't see anywhere inside the action where that thing would fit.

Does anyone know where I can find an ejector for this old gun? Are they even supposed to have ejectors? If not, will tightening up the extractor help?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EDIT: I found the user manual for Marlin bolt actions here and it shows how the extractor fits in. Hopefully the schematic works for my model, since mine is a lot older. I'm guessing that the previous owner took the magazine mounting bracket out and lost the ejector. Does that sound right?

I ended up fixing mine by putting in an ejector. Turns out the previous owner forgot to put it back in after he took it apart (herp derp). Diagnosing that and fixing it taught me a lot about the Marlin design so I'm not too upset.

To me it sounds like your extractor is losing tension. Your ejector/extractor is a c-shaped metal thing, clamped onto your bolt, that looks like this:

Try bending the extractor inward, and if it still won't work after that try popping the whole deal off and bending the whole thing to produce more tension. If all else fails, Numrich has them for $11 and it's a quick part swap.
