Is there any real difference in the newer Marlin Model 925 and the older 1970's Marlin Glenfield Model 25?

Reason being, I want to put Tech Sights designed for a newer Marlin 925 on a Glenfield 25 made in 1975.

I realize the front dovetail sight would have to be knocked out and a gunsmith would need to drill and tap the front of the barrel for the front sight but other than that, I really don't see any difference between the two models.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was any definitive differences in the two? Or if I would run into any problems with the rear sight on the sight rail with a size/width difference on the sight rails?

Thanks for your input!

I think the receivers have been a standard size for years for the 25, 25N, 925, 80, 81, 880, 980, and whatever else. The dovetail on the top is the standard size for .22 mounts.

The sights have been different on the various models, but any of the parts you're talking about are the same. You're right about the front sight -- the more deluxe models have a front sight base with a dovetail on top, but the 25 has a front sight base that's attached directly to the barrel.

I was under the impression that the Glenfield 25s have different magazines and action screw arrangements than the 25n/800/900/XT series rifles. Don't know about the dovetails on G25s.

Edit: Just looked at a Glenfield 25 and the action is much different than the 25n/800/900/XT series Marlins. Rear Tech-Sights should still work as it has a dovetail.
