I received an older marlin camp 9 today with trigger problems. I have not worked on the old camp 9 before. It does not have the disconnector assembly or the trigger spring and pin. The hammer strut bridge looks like it has been replaced.

From my research, it looks like in the early models a portion of the hammer strut bridge stuck down and acted as the trigger rebound spring. Is this correct?

I was planning on fixing it by drilling and installing the later style trigger spring and pin. Any problems there?

No idea.

All I ever heard of a problem with them is the bolt buffer getting hard and crumbling up.

That might lead to broken trigger parts eventually, maybe.

Sorry I can't really help.

These may help if you do not have them already. Fortunately mine was in good shape. I did replace the original buffer and bought a new recoil spring from Wolff just to be sure. I have not taken the trigger group apart.

The Camp 9 had several slight variations depending on the year. Mine is one of the early ones. Good luck as the are a really fun carbine to shoot.

I've seen that exploded diagram before and this model doesn't have parts 66-69. The lower does not have a hole for the trigger return spring pin or the cutout for the trigger block. I'll drill the hole and make it work on Monday.
