Marlin Lever Question

Just purchased my first lever gun...A Marlin 1894C.

I have not got to the range yet but was curious about the
finger lever fit to the buttstock. Is it normal for Marlin
rifles to have less than perfect fits here. It locks up fine
and functions properly in every way.

Many pics I see show the lever fitting right to the stock...mine
is pretty far off.

See pic. Great rifle, but probably won't get out to shoot it for
a while now the weather is turning cold.

Yours does look a little bit off. They don't fit up snug to the stock, but they are at least parallel. Yours may need a trip to an authorized repair shop to check it out (or a trip back to Marlin). I've seen tons of Marlins and I own 9 of them and I've never seen one like that. Bummer.

So you've tried dry firing and everything works fine with the lever as shown? That's odd and I'm surprised the Marlin left the factory in that state and even more surprised that you can release the hammer (with the trigger) with the lever like that. [strike]The levers are all right up against the lower metal tang on all three of my Marlins i.e. they sit tight against the stock.[/strike] I just checked my three and just as mm6mm6 stated, the levers are parallel with the stock with about an 1/8" gap along the whole length.

It functions fine. It locks up and it fires on the snap cap...the bolt completely closes and you can feel a positive lock.

I did call marlin the day I bought it and described it and they said it
was fine. I still have not seen one quite so off.

Just pulled mine out of the safe to look, and agree that yours needs adjustment.

Think by sending it in you have done the right thing.

Iwill post how well marlin does on repairs....I have read they are a very
good company when it comes to fixing problems.

Marlin got the rifle back to me in under 2 weeks...they fixed the lever fit and adjusted the extractor even though I didn't know it was in need of adjustment...everything looks good and after a thorough check, it appears all is right with the rifle....pretty good service. I did have to pay shipping one way to them, but overall, the quick turn around and the pleasent service over the phone was an A+.

The 357 is so hard to find around here, that I am glad I bought it, even if it
did need a quick trip back to mama.

I've been pleased with marlin CS too. and congrats on the 1894c, they're great fun.

after you shoot it for a while google "tuning marlin 1894" there are some relatively easy things you can do to make it a much smoother gun with a lighter trigger.
