Trigger wobble in marlin lever action. Is this normal?

Well I just bought me a brand spankin' new marlin 336 lever gun. I havent fired it yet, but as I was tinkering with it lastnight, I noticed that the trigger almost felt as if it was broke. When you pull the lever all the way to the stock, to engage the lever safety, it frees up the trigger allot, making it to where you can move the trigger front to back with out actually firing the rifle. Now when you actually pull the trigger, the hammer will fall, like it's supppsed to. I was just wondering, is this normal for lever guns?

Sounds normal to me. I dont remember right off hand about the 336 but I know marlin 1894's all have that "famous" marlin trigger flop. I've heard some people just can't stand it and upgrade to an aftermarket trigger that eliminates that. It never really bothered me cause the trigger seems nice and crisp to me.

yes its normal and if it bothers you you can purchase the happy trigger which eliminates it.

Totally normal. It will flop till you cock the hammer and even then there is a little flop. If it really bothers you check out the Wild West Guns trigger kit to make it a nice crisp trigger without the flop.

Yep normal. As mentioned, get a WWG Happy Trigger, and pick up one of their ejectors as well.

Awesome guys, thanks for the help! It really isn't something I notice while shooting( finally shot it today). I was just worried that maybe I bought a factory flawed gun. It seems to shoot pretty good, bit it will definately benifit from the leupold scout scope I'm planning to install. Man I never thought that rifle would kick as much as it does, gonna have to get me a good recoil pad as well. Overall, I love thus lever action. Thanks again to all of you that eased my worried mind!
