Valuable? Probably not extremely valuable as a rare collectible version (I think mine says Original on the barrel, also).

However, if it's in good shape, it's worth more than 100 bucks. A lot more.:) You got a good deal.

I looked online a bit and it looks like my 39a is worth around $400/$450. Seems like a lot of money for a .22. But this rifle is awesome, havnt shot a
.22 like this ever.

My 39A is also marked Golden 39A, but has a plain trigger. It also came with sling swivles. The SN starts with 182 or 183 I believe (I just looked at it, and forgot it already.). I'm old. Sue me. :D

I did look it up on the Marlin website and it was made about 1982, which is about when I remember getting it. I haven't really shot it in years, but when I did it would hold ten rounds in a group that you could cover with your thumbnail and have room left over at 25 yards.

Someone mentioned a 39D. I saw one recently in a local gun shop. It was shall we say, used but not abused. They were asking $399.00 for it. I'd never heard of the "D" model until then.

My Dad gave me my Golden 39A for Christmas in 1975. (No it's not for sale.)

In addition to the gold trigger, it has white line spacers at the butt plate and pistol grip cap, also the front sight hood. Another "feature" is the odd little black-and-white "bullseye" plug made of plastic, inletted into the toe of the stock. I recall Marlin made much of the trademark "bullseye" at the time.

Well, the seventies weren't the golden age of taste and style...
