Does anyone have information about changing stocks on a Marlin 336? I would like to replace the stock on my 336Y shorty with a stock for an 1894 Marlin. I like that style with no pistol grip.

It looks like you would have to change the lever too, but has anyone done this kind of change?

well, I have found a lever for $48, a stock for $59, and a trigger plate for $78. I could do the work, but at those prices, I am starting to like the way it is now.
I mounted my trusty old Weaver 2.5X 20mm tube today, and went back to the range. Nice two inch groups at 100 yards. At 50, it will cut clover leaves. I like the 170 grain WW Silvertips, but will do some hand loading too. I reallly like this shorty 'Spikehorn" Marlin carbine.

Making Progress now. I called my old gunsmith, the guy who has built me several complete rifles, as well as a number of handguns. He just happens to have a 336 stright stock, trigger plate, and lever. His price is right too, so I think the new Marlin will be shipping next week.
