I am thinking I would LOVE to have a Marlin lever action in .357 except for one problem. I hate the straight stock. I like the pistol grip stocks on the 336 series. It appears, however, that Marlin does not make a .357 lever with a pistol stock like the 336 series.

Is there a remedy? Can I swap in a pistol grip stock? Is that a job suitable for the kitchen table?

Problem is not just the buttstock, you have to bend/rework the tangs and that ain't a kitchen table job.

You just need the bottom metal off the receiver (no bending required), just need a donor rifle or someone to swap with. Me, I prefer straight grip!

I have them both & the 1984c it's a perfect design.

Have you fired an 1894c? I find the stock and rifle very pleasant to shoot. Or is it just a looks thing? Sorry I can't answer your question but if you haven't fired one in it's current configuration you may change your opinion after shooting one.

I think a pistol grip stock would feel awkward, but this is all my opinion:) I'm all for folks tweaking their guns to suit them. It means they get used:)

try over on marlinowners. I see folks there looking for straight lever conversions time to time, but you should really just try and learn to love the straight stock. or start sub-loading for the 336.
