I recently purchased a NIB Marlin XL7 in 270 Winchester for $305 at my local shop. I had an old Simmons Japan made 44mag scope and rings I stuck on it. This gun shoots great. I was looking at another Remington 700, in fact I compared two side by side. The Remmy was the ADL version same blind mag as the Marlin. The Marlin action was way smoother and has the Savage type trigger on it.This gun shoots as good as any Remmy I have owned. The recoil is not bad at all even though it ways only 6 1/2 lbs before scoped.I expected a lot worse kick. This rifle shot one 3 shot group under .3 inches with this cheap scope and factory Wallyworld ammo. I am truly impressed. I read since them and Remington have the same corporate owners, Remington is in on the making of this gun.Who knows. I would post pics if I knew how.Just thought I would share how good this little rifle is, I will sell one of my others now this gun shoots better and cost a lot less.

Hi,

I'm glad you like your Marlin. It was on my list under consideration but I went with the Savage Weather Warrior.

As far as posting pictures, I just managed to get some posted of my new Icon rifles. The process wasn't particularly easy but will be now that I'm all set up. The best instructions I found were over at www.rimfirecentral.com (the procedures listed over there also work here).

One of the key things is to set up a place on the internet to store your pictures. I set up a free account on Photobucket. Another poster mentioned that he liked and used Imageshack (?) so there are a variety of services you can use. Once you get your pictures on the net you start or reply to a thread here and add an attachment. Once you try to add the attachment it will ask where to get it from and you cut and paste the net location of your photos.

That's an overview, check out the detailed instructions. It can be done. I look forward to seeing your pictures.

I had one in .270 which I purchased last year. I was hoping to go deer hunting with it but never eneded up hunting. I reluctanty traded it. I was as happy as you with its accuracy and finish.

Had the XS7 in 308 that shot holes in holes, heck of a value rifle no doubt about it, just like a savage for a few $ less, but I still like my tikka better, much nicer finish, every bit as accurate, and the action....OMG is it nice.

I bought a 30-06 for my Son a while back and it came with a cheap scope. It is dead on at 150 yds and I left the scope on it. Best $300 rifle I have ever bought. ...Russ

Needs a newly designed extractor.

The only down side that I have seen is the dinky pot metal extractor that is prone to breakage. I broke one before I ever got to fire a shot and have seen several reviews stating the same problem.

I helped a buddy sight in his new Nikon scope on one the other day, and I was impressed with the way it shot.
